AutoHunter Spotlight: 1941 Cadillac Series 62

Up for auction on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is a 1941 Cadillac Series 62 that is one of 3,100 convertibles produced for the model year.

This car, restored to concours standards, has won multiple awards, including CCCA 1st price, an AACA Senior Award and First Place at the 1995 AACA show in Hershey.

It’s been refinished in Oceano Blue from its original shade of Valcour Maroon and accented with chrome side spears behind the front and rear wheels, side hood vents, taillight bezels and an egg-crate style front grille with an AACA Senior Award badge.

The tan convertible top is power-operated and equipped with a rear glass window.

Inside the Cadillac, the bench seats, door panels, visor and carpeting are outfitted in tan with the convertible boot in a slightly lighter shade of tan. You’ll find brightwork on the inside door handles, window cranks, vent window levers, dashboard, interior windshield trim, door sills and the bottom of each door panel.

The wood-grained dash houses the factory 2-spoke wheel with a chrome center horn ring.

Power comes from a 150-horsepower 346cid Flathead V8 connected to a 3-speed manual transmission.

The odometer reads 19,800 miles.

Featured on the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, AutoHunter, and offered at no reserve is a one-owner 2004 BMW M3 sports coupe that riding on custom 19-inch aluminum wheels, a lowered suspension and with an upgraded Eisenmann quad-outlet exhaust system.

“The M3 first debuted in 1986 as a high-performance version of the BMW 3-Series compact car, offering upgraded cosmetic and mechanical content when compared to traditional models,” AutoHunter notes in the car’s listing. “For the model year 2000, the M3 adopted the E46 chassis and became available as a coupe or convertible.”

This 2004 M3 coupe is finished in Titan Silver Metallic and features an aerodynamic body treatment that includes widened fenders to accommodate larger tires. It also has a front chin spoiler, side skirts, and a rear diffuser.

The grille, side accents and badging are finished in a matte black, nicely contrasting the silver paint.

Additional exterior features include Xenon headlights with angel-eye daytime running lamps, and a trunk-mounted carbon fiber lip spoiler.

The interior houses black-leather heated and power bucket seats and matching door panels, dash and console. Amenities include automatic climate control, tinted windows, cruise control, power windows and an upgraded Alpine navigation sound system with Bavsound speakers, a subwoofer and Intravee audio interface for iPod connectivity.

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction driven by ClassicCars.com, is a one-owner 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 4WD powered by a 4.2-liter 2F inline-6 backed by a 4-speed manual transmission and 2-speed transfer case.

Toyota rolled out the more modern and more comfortable 60-series Land Cruiser in 1980. These SUVs grabbed the attention of adventurous families wanting a roomy 4×4 to take on both on- and off-road adventures.

The FJ60s were the first of the Cruisers to have fuel injection, power windows and automatic transmissions. This one has the manual gearbox.

This 1985 FJ60 example has been repainted in the factory Alpine White and has been given newly applied neutral gradient graphics on each side. The bumpers, headlight bezels, fender vents and door handles are all chrome.

The interior, trimmed in gray patterned cloth upholstery, appears to be well-maintained. It features a color-matched center console and dash that houses air conditioning and a push-button AM/FM radio.

Holding up the SUV are a set of chrome-finished six-spoke 15-inch factory wheels wrapped in 235/75 Big O Big Foot A/T raised-white-letter tires.

The odometer shows 146,885 miles, which are believed to be true.

AutoHunter Spotlight: 1971 Ford Bronco

“The first Bronco sport utility vehicle launched in 1966 on an exclusive chassis, available only in four-wheel drive at the time,” AutoHunter notes in the SUV’s listing. “The body utilized symmetrical door skins, all-flat glass, and a variety of body styles.”

This 1971 Dark Orange Metallic example is configured as an open-body roadster equipped with fender-fares, black-tubular bumpers and a color-matched roll cage.

The ad states the Bronco doesn’t have any doors, although an uninstalled soft top is included with the sale for extra coverage.

Inside are black vinyl bucket seats, an aftermarket three-spoke steering wheel, and a modern Pioneer audio head unit connected to Kicker speakers.

Under the hood is a 302cid V8 performance upgraded with an Edelbrock Performer intake, four-barrel carburetor and performance headers with a dual exhaust system. Power is sent to all four wheels via a replacement Hughes automatic transmission.

Rolling through the decades of AutoHunter’s collector car auction docket

Each week, one of the ClassicCars.com Journal editors takes a turn picking vehicles that interest them on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com.

This week, it’s my turn and I’ve decided to showcase vehicles that stand out to me from each decade between 1930 and 1990.

Kicking off the list is this farm-bound pickup that’s been with the same family for three generations and is the product of an older restoration.

The body is finished in two-tone red with black running boards and features brightwork for the bumpers, grille, molding and trim. The cargo bed has been given new wood panels and hardware and is boxed in with wooden bed caps on each side.

Looking inside the cab, you’ll see some wear and tear in the black vinyl seats and a pair of aftermarket bowtie-branded floor mats installed in the footwells.

Power comes from a single-carbureted 216cid inline-6 engine connected to a 4-speed manual transmission.

We are rolling into the ‘40s with this restored Super Deluxe Woody four-door station wagon that features a rebuilt 239cid flathead V8 mated to a 3-speed manual transmission.

All the wooden trim, inside and out, was removed, sanded, refinished and varnished. Looking at the photos, the hard work paid off. In addition, brightwork was redone.

The interior features a reupholstered brown vinyl bench seat and an ivory dash with a white steering wheel and bright accents.

Picture yourself pulling into the drive-in theater in this ’57 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner convertible.

The convertible was subject to a restoration and repainted in a two-tone red and white accented nicely with chrome bumpers, grille, side moldings and window trim.

The “Hide-Away Hardtop” features a mechanism that folds the front of the roof and pulls it back beneath the deck lid, thanks to the power of seven electric motors.

When the top is down, the red and white interior “Airweave vinyl” upholstered is revealed. The interior is equipped with an electric clock, AM radio and heater.

Power comes from a Thunderbird Special 312cis Y-block V8 connected to a 3-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission.

This one-owner light green Windsor Golden Lion four-door sedan remains in largely original condition.

The body boasts large tail fins that “begin at the front doors and extend to boomerang-styled tail lamps at the rear,” AutoHunter notes in the car’s listing.

Inside, you’ll find dual two-toned bench seats upholstered in black cloth and gray vinyl, a ribbed brightwork panel containing push-button controls for the TroqueFlite 3-speed transmission a push-button radio and an ashtray.

Under the hood is the B-series 383cid V8 that was factory rated at 305 horsepower.

Rock out to Aerosmith and The Rolling Stones in this 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 SportsRoof coming from long-term family ownership.

According to the Marti Report, this Mach 1 is one of just 606 featuring this Dark Green Metallic paint and trim code.

The body has a dual-intake Ram Air hood with 351 decals and bright retention pins, a lower front air dam, Mach 1 hockey-stick side stripping and decals and a rear deck spoiler.

Power comes from a numbers-matching 351cid Cleveland 2V V8 paired with an FMX Select-Shift 3-speed automatic transmission and console-mounted shift lever.

This classic 4×4 features a new repaint in a two-tone tan and orange accented by brightwork-covered bumpers, mirrors, side moldings and door handles.

Equipped with the Sierra Classic package, the interior houses brushed aluminum dash and door panel trim and high-back two-tone red and tan cloth seats. Amenities include cruise control, air conditioning, a newer Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo and power windows.

Power comes from a small-block fuel-injected 350cid V8 connected to a 700R4 automatic transmission.

1994 Dodge Viper

Nothing screams the ‘90s like a bright red Dodge Viper. This example was previously owned by famous comedian and action Jeff Dunham and shows just 11,000 miles on the odometer.

The body features side-exit exhaust outlets, a fabric soft top with side curtains and a removable red hardtop.

When you open the hood, which is a huge one-piece clam shell, you’ll find a mid-mounted 8.0-liter aluminum 400 horsepower V10 connected to a Borg Warner T-56 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

AutoHunter Spotlight: 1964 Chevrolet Corvette

Up for auction on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette convertible that was the recipient of a body-off restoration before the seller acquired it in 2015. The C2 Corvette has been kept in a climate-controlled storage facility since then.

“Of the 14,925 convertible Corvettes produced in 1964, 3,454 were finished in Daytona Blue (916) as shown on this restored example,” the auction site says in the convertible’s listing.

The body sports a “Power Blister” style big block hood, which is not an original feature for the 1964 models, along with chrome bumpers and trim pieces. Both a hardtop and soft top are included in the sale.

Matching the exterior, the interior is finished in blue leather upholstery with bucket seating, manual crank windows, and the factory AM/FM radio that has been updated with Bluetooth and an Alpine power pack.

Power comes from a non-original 350cid small-block V8 paired with a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. It’s dressed with a chrome air cleaner, late model center-bolt valve covers, an Accel HEI distributor and correct ram horn style exhaust manifolds.

AutoHunter Spotlight: 1940 Mercury Eight

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this custom 1940 Mercury Eight convertible that received a nut-and-bolt restoration under prior ownership.

This second-year model Mercury Eight is finished in Cadillac Inferno metallic red with refinished brightwork and a replaced Hartz cloth convertible top in black.

The interior houses custom-pleated light-beige leather bench seats with matching door panels and a color-matched red dashboard.

The odometer displays 90,000 miles, although total chassis mileage is unknown.

AutoHunter Spotlight: 1957 Ford Thunderbird resto-mod

Today’s AutoHunter Spotlight is on a 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible resto-mod that’s been driven only 500 miles since the rebuild of its Windsor 351cid V8.

“The iconic shape is accentuated by a hood scoop, fender gates, modest tailfins, and dual rounded taillamps,” the seller notes in the car’s auction listing on AutoHunter.

The Deep Teal Metallic body rides on an all-new front clip and is equipped with a color-matched removable hardtop with porthole windows.

Inside, the interior has been reupholstered in a two-tone black and gray vinyl and given a matching black center console with cup holders and storage bin.

Under the hood, the Windsor 351cid V8 was given custom performance headers, a chrome-finished air cleaner and Ford Racing valve covers. Power is sent to the rear via a C4 3-speed automatic transmission.

AutoHunter Spotlight: 1970 Chevrolet Camaro RS Z/28

Today’s AutoHunter Spotlight is a 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 optioned with the RS package and powered by a matching-numbers, 360-horsepower 350cid LT-1 engine paired with a 4-speed Turbo-Hydramatic transmission.

Power comes from a Tri-Power 348cid 1960 Chevrolet V8 upgraded with ported camel-hump heads, oversized valves, and hydraulic lifters. It’s paired with a 3-speed Turbo 350 automatic transmission.

The odometer shows 30,000 miles, although true mileage is unknown.
